【Event Recap】CodeN'Sim Coding and Problem-solving Competition 2024-25

The CodeN'Sim Programming Problem-solving Competition 2024-2025 successfully concluded on May 3rd and 10th. 41 teams from primary divisions demonstrated their programming expertise and innovative thinking in a vibrant competitive atmosphere. The CodeN'Sim competition encourages students to enhance a variety of skills, the competition received enthusiastic participation from students and teachers alike. We extend special gratitude to our co-organizer, Shun Tak Fraternal Association Cheng Yu Tung Secondary School, for providing the venue and logistical support that ensured the event's smooth execution.

Learning Through Play: Programming Challenges That Build Practical Skills

In our technology-driven era, programming has become an essential skill that benefits from early cultivation. This year's competition innovated beyond traditional formats by emphasizing real-time problem-solving and teamwork. Participants faced spontaneous challenges requiring immediate solutions using STEAM principles - all without instructor assistance. Trumptech is dedicated to providing elementary students with enjoyable coding training through the platform, allowing them to be fully involved and apply what they learn, much to the delight of their teachers and parents.

Lower Primary Division: Where Creativity Meets Logic

Young competitors used LEGO Education SPIKE Essential kits to build and program robots capable of manoeuvring coloured cubes into designated scoring zones within strict time limits. This division not only developed programming proficiency but also enhanced logical reasoning and practical skills.

The 2024-2025 Lower Primary group has a concert theme, in which students need to push cubes to their respective seating areas. The robot must spin and play a song at the end of the countdown.

They worked together harmoniously and divided the tasks clearly during the process, jointly adjusting the cube and modifying the robot.

Upon learning of the cube position revealed on the spot, they immediately adapted the robot's coding strategy and replaced the parts. The efficiency and teamwork were impressive!

Upper Primary Division: Advanced Challenges with Environmental Themes

The senior division presented more complex tasks incorporating mathematical applications like precise measurement and angle calculation. Beyond basic scoring objectives, teams tackled three "Green Living" themed missions: wind energy generation, sustainable transportation, and energy conservation - each requiring precise execution of multiple technical tasks.

Wind Power Generation: The robot has to rotate the blades of the model for a specific number Scores will be awarded based on the position of the indicator.

Cycling Mission: The Robot has to push the "bicycle" model to the designated location.
